Our Foundation Girls and Boys
We bought our first alpacas in January of 2002 -- the pregnant Tasha and her daughter Tess.
Tess has grown up nicely in the sixteen years we've had her. During her show career, she went from fourth place at the 2002 AOBA Nationals to a Blue Ribbon at the 2002 Frederick Fair to a Reserve Champion at 2003 Alpacarama! Since she's retired from the show circuit, she's given us four beautiful brown girls -- the last three from our herdsire Miguel!
Tasha had another little girl (I know we're lucky!) on June 26, 2002. We named her T for Texas after an old Jimmie Rogers song. She's a great little girl sired by Quetzal from Magical Farms. She scored a Second Place ribbon at the 2003 AOBA Nationals. She gave us a girl, too! Her daughter is My Fickle Cowgirl, sired by Stetson of Peru, half Accoyo son of PPPeruvian King, owned by our friends at Bellasera Alpacas and A'Paca Fun Farm.
In May 2002 we got our first boy, Dreamrunner, from our friends at Blue Ribbon! He's a wonderful boy and an awesome herdsire (although we bought him because he and my wife share a birthday - May 9th)! He also made us proud by winning a Second Place ribbon at the Virginia Classic.
Dreamrunner has two cria on the ground, but of course he looks forward to meeting eligible young lady suris!
By January 2003, we needed more alpacas! We found Dharma - a great foundation girl to start our suri breeding program. And by March she gave us Atticus, a wonderful Medium Silver Gray boy sired by Ameripaca's famous Gunsmoke.
She also has given us Rudy Can't Fail, sired by our own Dreamrunner; and Last Rose of Summer, sired by Captain Morgan. Most recently, she gave us Ramblin' Bob, a lustrous fawn boy out of LFA Accoyo Golden Jack.
We chose Miguel as a foundation for our huacaya breeding program. He's a stocky full Peruvian brown boy sired by Double O Good's Black Cloud Boy. Miguel picked up a Blue Ribbon for his fleece at the 2003 Alpacarama.
Miguel gave us Whiskey Sam from Tasha, plus he's given us three beautiful brown girls from Tess. He also sired Coco Cherie for our friends at Happy Rock Alpacas, and another boy and girl for our friends at Whispering Meadows. Don't worry, though. Miguel is still looking for attractive young huacaya ladies.
